We seek a Software Engineer to design and build a next-generation reliability platform for affirm's production systems, blending distributed systems with AI-assisted development to improve health and observability across services.

Qualifications

• Total 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps with declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation and guidance with guardrails and citations.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivering significant features with simple, extensible design.
• Proven ability to make meaningful changes across a large code base while maintaining quality.
• Strong communication skills and growth mindset.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.

Responsibilities

• You will own quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity to deliver solutions.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics from ideation to decision-making considering risks and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify and solve project, process, technology or business issues.
• Support operations and availability by monitoring metrics and on-call readiness.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership through code reviews and design standards.
• Mentor and develop team members through feedback and example.
