Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build a next‑generation reliability platform for Affirm’s production systems. You’ll blend traditional distributed systems engineering with AI‑assisted development to give teams a single place to understand, debug, and improve the health of their services, while maintaining a strong emphasis on reliability.

This is a highly creative, hands‑on role that rewards rapid iteration and shipping with a high bar for quality.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Proficient with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
• Experience using AI frameworks to improve automation with guardrails.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics through ideation and constraints.
• Identify and solve project, process, technology or business issues.
• Monitor metrics and support on‑call efforts to keep services healthy.
• Set and improve code review and design standards across the team.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to develop talent.
