Job summary

Fuze Health seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead cloud database modernization for the Hospice business unit. You will drive SQL Server on EC2 upgrades, migrate/modernize SSIS and SSRS, and optimize costs while mentoring the Hospice DBA team in AWS database operations.

You will establish monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch, implement backup/DR, and align with HITRUST/SOC2 in a regulated healthcare setting across the United States.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA & DR.
• Hands-on with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• SSIS/SSRS experience for ETL & reporting.
• AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• AWS-native ETL tools or plan to modernize SSIS ETL in AWS.
• DB migration projects involving EC2 to RDS or in-place upgrades.
• Backup/restore strategies and PITR knowledge.
• Monitoring with Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL DMVs.
• Proficiency in T-SQL and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 with migration to RDS or in-place upgrade.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports, possibly to AWS-native ETL/services.
• Drive database cost optimization and right-size resources.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and RDS.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines (Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Implement automated backup, restore and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS infrastructure.
• Ensure HITRUST compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database needs.
• Explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for the 2027 roadmap.
