Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for the Hospice division to lead cloud modernization of SQL Server on AWS, upgrade paths, and modernization of ETL/reporting. You’ll drive cost optimization, mentor a SQL DBA team, and partner with DevOps for infrastructure as code.

The role emphasizes building cloud-native monitoring, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC2) across US hospice applications and data assets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong SSIS and SSRS experience.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL tools (DMS, Glue) or a plan to modernize SSIS/SSRS in AWS.
• Backup/restore strategies and point-in-time recovery.
• Monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch; SQL Server DMVs knowledge.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead the SQL Server modernization on EC2: migrate to AWS RDS and/or upgrade from SQL Server 2016.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native or upgrade on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-sizing, Reserved Instances, storage tiering.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and RDS management.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Perform query optimization, index management and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS infrastructure.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database-related development needs.
• Explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for the 2027 modernization roadmap.
