Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead database modernization for the Hospice division, steering SQL Server on EC2 toward AWS RDS, upgrading 2016, and modernizing ETL/SSRS.

You will mentor the Hospice DBA team, implement cloud-native monitoring (Datadog, CloudWatch), and drive cost optimization while maintaining HITRUST/SOC2 compliance. Responsibilities include planning migrations, ensuring backups and DR, and collaborating with DevOps on Terraform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Upgrades and migrations off SQL Server 2016 with testing.
• SSIS and SSRS experience for ETL and reporting.
• AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• AWS-native ETL/data migration tooling (DMS, Glue) or plan for SSIS->AWS modernization.
• Backup/restore strategies, point-in-time recovery, cross-region replication.
• Monitoring tools: Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and migrate to AWS RDS.
• Migrate SSIS/SSRS or re-platform to AWS-native ETL and reporting.
• Drive database cost optimization and right-sizing.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on cloud DB operations.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Implement automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Query optimization, index management, and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS infrastructure.
• Ensure HITRUST compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with DB-related development needs.
• Evaluate PostgreSQL/Aurora for the roadmap.
