Job summary

Encore Global in San Diego (InterContinental) seeks a Technical Lead to set up and operate intermediate to large-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment, ensuring complete customer satisfaction. Reports to Operations leadership and collaborates with events teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on AV execution, troubleshooting, safety compliance, and client relationship management, with opportunities to mentor other technicians and contribute to delivering world-class service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• 2-3+ years of customer service or hospitality experience.
• 2-3+ years of audio-visual experience required.
• External applicants must meet training and certifications within 60 days of start date.
• Internal applicants must meet internal certification requirements per company policy.
• Valid driver’s license is required for roles that may operate Company vehicles.
• Additional DOT requirements may apply.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Equipment operation: set up, operate, and break down intermediate AV equipment.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems quickly.
• Comply with all company security and safety measures.
• Ensure equipment is secure from theft/damage when in use.
• Provide excellent customer service and strive to exceed expectations.
• Be a leader, mentor, and coach for other Technicians on service philosophy.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication.
• Meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment works properly.
• Monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day.
• Understand and foster hotel/client relationships.
• Understand technical aspects and diagnose problems with equipment/software.
• Anticipate equipment challenges and changes professionally.
• Follow company processes and complete paperwork accurately.
• Use equipment sheets to determine scheduled gear for setup/strike.
• Interact with staff and vendors for equipment needs.
• Utilize floor up-selling techniques to increase revenue.
• Work with clients to finalize invoices.
• May work within Encore systems and applications as needed.
