Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for its Energy & Resources group across North America. The role involves engineering instrumentation and controls, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and delivering safe, compliant designs for mining, power, oil & gas, and renewables.

Travel ~10% and client-facing duties are included. The position reports to the Discipline Manager - Instrumentation and Controls and requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 10+ years in heavy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• PE license in TX or AZ preferred; instrumentation & controls experience beneficial.
• Experience as lead engineer on engineering/construction projects in heavy industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety compliance across projects and client sites.
• Develop instrumentation and controls deliverables (datasheets, index, calculations).
• Lead or participate in P&ID development and instrument design revisions.
• Contribute to hazard analysis (HAZOP) and process safety reviews.
• Manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule with senior leads.
• Engage with clients, attend meetings (remote or in person) and provide regular updates.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
