Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our Energy and Resources Team across North America. This full-time role focuses on instrumentation and controls design for mining, power, and oil & gas projects, with exposure to renewable energy initiatives.

The candidate will evaluate, specify, and engineer instrumentation systems, develop control narratives, network schemes, and 3D constructability reviews while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to lead project teams.
• Willingness to travel (~10%) to client sites or other offices.

Responsibilities

• Uphold health and safety rules and standards for the team and clients.
• Develop instrumentation and control design deliverables (datasheets, I/O, wiring, narratives).
• Lead or support project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in PHA, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
• Assist leads with scope, budget, staffing and schedule management.
• Attend client meetings and communicate directly with clients, sometimes remotely.
