Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources consulting team. This position develops a strong foundation in consulting‑based automation and control system design and supports multidisciplinary projects across North America, including mining, power generation, oil & gas, renewable energy, and energy transition projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university.
5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
A Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support from proposals through design phases including PFS, FS, detailed design, construction, commissioning, start-up.
Site work including as‑is investigations, scope validation, construction, commissioning, and start‑up support.
Lead the design and development of I&C construction drawings and data sheets.
Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integrate with vendor equipment.
Prepare industrial networking specifications and design networks.
Coordinate CWPs, review deliverables, and provide client/vendor coordination.
