Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join its Energy and Resources consulting team. The role involves leading and supporting I&C design for projects across North America, with a focus on mining, power, oil & gas, and renewables.

The candidate should have 5–10 years of engineering experience and a PE license or eligibility, and be willing to travel about 10%. The position offers a path to growth within a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to work on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• A Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).
• Mining project experience is an asset.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support from proposals through detailed design and start-up.
• Site investigations and construction/start-up support.
• Lead I&C drawings, specs and data sheets; support procurement.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and vendor integrations.
• Develop industrial network specifications and fiber/backbone layouts.
• Coordinate project delivery, QA/QC, and client/vendor communications.
