Job summary

Stantec in the United States is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources consulting team in a role focused on design, development, and integration of control systems for mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy projects.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team across North America, contributing to projects from proposal through commissioning and start-up, with opportunities to lead and to collaborate with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• PE license or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry/mining/oil & gas.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through detailed design and commissioning.
• Lead instrumentation/controls design deliverables (diagrams, wiring, datasheets) and support procurement.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integration with third-party systems.
• Develop control philosophies, sequencing, and safety interlocks for packaged systems.
• Coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure quality and timely delivery.
