Job summary
Stantec is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our Energy and Resources team in North America, reporting to the Discipline Manager - Instrumentation and Controls. The selected candidate will evaluate, specify, and engineer instrumentation and control systems across projects in mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors.
You will contribute to design deliverables, participate in safety assessments, and collaborate with multi-discipline teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electronics.
- 10+ years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry (oil & gas, power, mining).
- PE Licensed in TX or AZ, or ability to obtain one.
- Leadership experience and ability to mentor junior staff.
- Willingness to travel ~10%.
Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with health and safety rules for Stantec and clients.
- Develop instrumentation and controls deliverables (datasheets, index, calculations, installation details).
- Lead or participate in project coordination meetings with internal/external teams.
- Participate in HAZOP and process safety assessments.
- Perform 3D model and constructability reviews.
- Design facility/mines-wide control networks and systems.
- Collaborate with client meetings (remote when required).
