Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join the Energy and Resources team across North America. The role involves evaluating, selecting, and designing instrumentation and control systems for projects in mining, power, oil & gas, and the growing renewable sector.

Responsibilities include developing instrument data, P&ID, control narratives, and network designs for hazardous environments, with client-facing duties and ~10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electronics.
• 10+ years of experience in heavy industry engineering, design and construction (Oil & Gas, Thermal, Hydro, Mining).
• PE License in TX or AZ or commitment to acquire is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply health and safety rules for Stantec and clients.
• Develop design through sketches, models, diagrams and redlines.
• Lead or support project coordination meetings with multi-discipline teams and external parties.
• Participate in client requirements meetings, PHAs, value analysis, and cost estimates.
