Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape the data and AI foundation for marketing analytics. You will design and own Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models powering segmentation, targeting, and automation.

You will translate ambitious business questions into scalable, AI-enabled data products and mentor engineers. Based in the United States, this role offers a flexible remote work model and RSU opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL, with strong data modeling and DBT experience.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and the modern data stack.
• Experience building semantic layers and structured documentation optimized for AI ingestion and agentic workflows.
• Experience building and evaluating AI-enabled data products and agent systems in production.

Responsibilities

• Define the strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own Samsara's marketing data infrastructure (ETL/ELT, Databricks, core data models).
• Design semantic layers and data dictionaries to enable self-serve BI and AI-driven analytics.
• Translate business questions into scalable, automated data solutions across marketing and GTM.
• Lead cross-team data initiatives end-to-end and ensure data quality and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and analysts; review code and drive high engineering standards.
• Develop AI-enabled data products and agents, including tooling, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation practices.
• Automate manual workflows with AI across Marketing and GTM teams.
