Job summary

Samsara is hiring for a Senior Data/AI Engineer on the Marketing Data & Analytics team. You will architect the data foundation powering AI and self-serve analytics, building Databricks pipelines, gold layer tables, and semantic models to enable segmentation, automation and analytics.

You're expected to define strategy with cross‑functional partners, translate business questions into scalable data products, mentor engineers, and drive AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL, with strong data modeling and DBT experience.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and the modern data stack.
• Experience building AI agents and AI-enabled data products in production.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own marketing data infrastructure: ETL/ELT pipelines, Databricks Gold Layer tables, and core data models.
• Design semantic layers and data dictionaries enabling self-serve BI and AI ingestion.
• Translate business questions into scalable solutions and lead cross-team initiatives end to end.
• Mentor engineers and analysts; raise engineering quality and review standards.
• Drive AI initiatives to build reliable AI-enabled data products and agents.
