Job summary

Samsara is seeking an experienced data/AI engineering leader to shape the Marketing Data and Analytics foundation. You’ll architect Databricks pipelines, gold-layer tables, and semantic models, turning complex business questions into scalable data products and autonomous AI agents.

You will partner with Sales, Marketing, and Product to deliver trusted data, champion AI-driven workflows, and mentor engineers while upholding Samsara’s core principles as we scale globally.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL with DBT and data modeling.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures and ETL/ELT; Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery.
• Experience building semantic layers and documentation optimized for AI ingestion and agentic workflows.
• Agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) are part of your regular workflow, and you verify and take ownership of AI-generated output.
• Experience building, shipping, evaluating, and monitoring LLM or agent systems in production.
• Track record of leading complex, cross-team data initiatives.
• Experience supporting Marketing, Sales, or Product teams.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own Samsara's marketing data infrastructure: ETL/ELT pipelines, Databricks Gold Layer tables, and core data models.
• Design the semantic layers, data dictionaries, and structured documentation for self-serve BI and AI ingestion.
• Translate ambiguous business questions into clear requirements and scalable solutions, working autonomously.
• Lead cross-team data initiatives end to end and own data reliability and quality.
• Serve as the senior technical lead for the team's hardest problems and mentor engineers.
• Drive strategic use of AI to solve high-impact problems with AI-enabled data products and agents.
• Identify and automate AI-powered workflows across Marketing and GTM.
• Ship high-quality Python and SQL, review AI outputs before production.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
