Job summary

Samsara Inc. is seeking a senior data/AI engineer to lead the Marketing Data and Analytics (MDA) Engineering team’s data and AI foundation.

You will architect core Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models powering segmentation, targeting, automation, and analytics. The role emphasizes autonomous problem solving, cross‑functional collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Product, and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL with strong data modeling and DBT experience.
• Hands-on experience with data warehouses and the modern data stack (ETL/ELT).
• Experience building AI-enabled data products or agents for production use.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own marketing data infrastructure: ETL/ELT pipelines and Databricks Gold Layer.
• Design semantic layers, data dictionaries, and AI-friendly documentation.
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions with minimal PM support.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and ensure data quality and reliability of releases.
• Mentor engineers and analysts and review AI-generated outputs before production.
• Drive AI initiatives to build AI-enabled data products and agents.
• Automate workflows with AI across Marketing and GTM teams.
• Ship high-quality Python and SQL, guiding agentic coding tools.
• Embed Samsara’s cultural principles in a global, scalable manner.
