Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to act as a seller-doer, blending business development with engineering work. You will manage client relationships for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services, scope and price proposals, and seal reports on won projects.

The role requires an active PE license (civil/geotechnical/structural), 6+ years of relevant experience, and a proven ability to bring in work.

Qualifications

Active PE license (civil, geotechnical, or structural) in the posting state, or eligibility by comity within 90 days.
6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
Proven track record or credible plan to bring in work; comfortable pricing and negotiating.
Willingness to travel to client offices and jobsites; ability to represent the company at meetings and events.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
Serve as engineer of record on won projects: review data, resolve failures, seal reports and letters.
Direct technicians and inspectors; coordinate with laboratory on testing schedules.
Present at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in the market.
