Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support pediatric families at Lurie Children’s. You will handle pre-registration, verify eligibility, obtain consents, and enter information into Epic.

You will also assist with referrals, scheduling, and collecting payments as needed. The role requires strong customer service, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, third party billing, and managed care preferred.
• Some knowledge of electronic medical records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word/Outlook and basic computer skills.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with families and staff.
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA rules.

Responsibilities

• Complete pre-registration and full registration for families as needed.
• Verify eligibility information is accurate.
• Obtain patient/family consent forms and enter them into Epic.
• Query MyChart and Care Everywhere; use EpicCare Link when appropriate.
• Assist families with referrals and visit scheduling; confirm appointments.
• Obtain and process payments (estimates, copays, balances) as applicable.
• Print labels and distribute intake forms; ensure documentation is scanned.
• Coordinate with staff to inform families of wait times and delays.
• Adhere to Power All principles and maintain patient privacy.
