Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support front-desk registration, eligibility verification, and family communications. The role requires strong customer service, multitasking, and familiarity with Epic EMR.

The position involves coordinating appointments, collecting payments, processing consents, and ensuring smooth patient flow while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Local candidates preferred for this on-site role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, third party billing, and managed care preferred.
• Knowledge of electronic medical record (Epic).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word applications such as Outlook and other computer skills preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with pediatric patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Problem solving and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage stressful situations.

Responsabilités

• Complete pre-registration and full registration for families.
• Ensure eligibility information is accurate.
• Obtain consents for care, HIPAA, and forms, and enter into Epic.
• Query MyChart and Care Everywhere and use Epic Care Link as appropriate.
• Assist families with referrals and same-day service when possible.
• Inform and collect payments via appropriate systems (CCF, Health Fusion).
• Copy insurance cards and provide intake forms and scanning-ready documents.
• Provide ID bands and communicate wait times to families.
• Schedule appointments and update patient information in systems.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; complete checkout procedures.
• Coordinate with Patient Service Representatives and departments as needed.
