Job summary

Spokane Public Schools seeks a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) for a 1.0 FTE position across Cooper/Holmes and Grant/Longfellow Elementary Schools. The BIS will support learning, behavior and social-emotional needs within a 21st‑century framework and align with district SEL initiatives.

Qualified candidates hold a Master's in Special Education or related field with ESA endorsement, plus knowledge of 504/IEP processes. SEBB benefits available; start in 2026‑27 school year.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Special Education with a Special Education endorsement or Masters in Social Work, School Counseling, or School Psychology with ESA certification.
• ESA/endorsement required per PESB.

Responsibilities

• Support cognitive processing through planning, observation, and reflection.
• Deliver professional development trainings to staff as approved by supervisor.
• Assist in developing early intervention strategies for struggling students.
• Conduct observations and provide behavioral recommendations for at‑risk students.
• Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans and progress tracking.
• Provide social-emotional supports and skills training.
• Support 504, IEP processes and MDT teams.
• Engage in crisis intervention and problem solving with staff and students.
