Job summary

The Schenectady City School District seeks a Behavior Specialist to lead behavior support initiatives within the Special Education Division. You will collaborate with administrators to develop behavioral systems, FBAs, and BIPs, and you will train staff while tracking data across buildings.

The role focuses on implementing behavioral interventions, monitoring outcomes, and reporting to the Committee on Special Education.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus three years working with children/adolescents with behavioral needs, including developing FBAs and BIPs.
• BCBA certification required and maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with staff and administrators to implement behavior support practices.
• Serve as primary contact for behavior reporting, data collection, and staff training.
• Develop and implement Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Provide staff coaching on classroom management and behavior data collection.
• Prepare reports for committees and outside professionals as needed.
• Monitor and report on effectiveness of interventions and data trends.
