Job summary

CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist to supervise and intervene with students displaying challenging behavior within the school setting. The role promotes a positive learning environment and maintains data on interventions and outcomes.

Under supervision of the Principal and School Coordinator, you will follow BIP plans, respond to crises, support SPED teams, and generate regular behavioral reports using ED HUB or equivalent systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Requires knowledge of and experience using effective behavior intervention and management strategies with emotionally disturbed adolescents.
• Certifications include crisis intervention techniques (PMT), CPR/First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Follows prescribed behavioral intervention plans (BIP's) for students.
• Utilizes program's behavioral management system and responds to varying levels of maladaptive student behavior.
• Supervises individuals or small groups of students in alternative learning settings due to disruptive or high risk behaviors.
• Assists students with completing assigned class work and make-up work.
• Monitors students during meals, transitions, and in hallways.
• Performs routine security checks and tracks behavior data daily using ED HUB.
• Keeps track of restraints and seclusions.
• Assists in entering behavior tracking forms during early release and PD days.
• Attends PPT meetings and collaborates with SPED team.
