Job summary

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) to design and direct behavior modification plans for students with intensive needs, including autism. The role involves collaboration with district teams, delivering training, and short- and long-term assignments across multiple schools.

Qualified candidates will have experience with teachers, service providers, students and families, and be ready to participate in ongoing trainings and data-driven practice.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success working with teachers, related service providers, students and parents.
• Willingness to attend trainings after the school day and/or during the summer on topics related to Crisis Prevention and Intervention, behavioral strategies, autism, instructional strategies and collaboration.
• Pass fingerprint-based background check at cost to the candidate.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and support to practitioners using research-based best practices.
• Collaborate with school teams to monitor progress of Individual Student Behavior Support Plans.
• Lead team meetings to review progress monitoring of behavior plans.
• Assist in development and delivery of professional development on related topics.
• Perform additional related duties as required.
