United Rentals in Baltimore is seeking a Sales Associate to start in our Sales Development Program, shadowing sales and operations to learn the full equipment-rental lifecycle and build a foundation for growth into an Outside Sales Representative role.

You'll participate in onboarding, work on outbound campaigns across construction verticals, master CRM and other sales tools, and develop the relationship-building skills that drive customer success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Customer-facing sales experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Proficient computer and mobile device skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Training: must live within reasonable driving distance of assigned branch and report on-site M-F.

Responsibilities

• Begin your training at a local branch, shadowing both sales and operational roles to gain an inside‑out understanding of the full equipment‑rental lifecycle.
• Join peers across North America for a digital onboarding class to sharpen your sales technique and build a support network.
• Progress through outbound sales campaigns across construction verticals and various customer segments.
• Master sales tools including CRM, inventory management platforms, customer portal, and mobile apps.
• Lead high‑level sales conversations involving price negotiations, multi‑piece rental requests, and service contracts.
• Learn proven sales methodologies to deliver solutions and drive revenue growth.
• Participate in local team initiatives and track Development progress through performance metrics.
• Receive daily feedback from leadership meetings, call coaching, and ride‑alongs to develop sales strategies.
• Average SDP lasts 4‑6 months before promotion to OSR, timeline varies by market and performance.
