Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Sales Associate to join our General Rentals team. You’ll start in a structured Sales Development Program, shadowing sales and operations to learn the full rental lifecycle and build critical customer skills.

You’ll complete North American onboarding, participate in outbound campaigns across construction verticals, and master our sales tools like CRM and inventory platforms. The role prepares you for promotion to an Outside Sales Representative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Experience in a customer-facing sales role preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Proficient computer and mobile device skills.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Begin your training at a local branch, shadowing both sales and operational roles to gain an inside-out understanding of the full equipment-rental lifecycle.
• Join your peers across North America for a digital onboarding class to sharpen your sales technique and build a support network.
• Progress through outbound sales campaigns exposing you to construction verticals and customer segments.
• Master key United Rentals sales tools, including our CRM, inventory management platforms, and customer portal.
• Lead high-level sales conversations involving price negotiations and complex rental requests.
• Learn proven sales methodologies to deliver solutions and drive revenue growth.
• Participate in local team initiatives and events to build teamwork and engagement.
• Track your SDP progress through real-time metrics and weekly competitions.
• Receive daily feedback from leadership meetings, coaching sessions, and ride-alongs.
• The SDP lasts 4–6 months before promotion to Outside Sales Representative.
