Job summary

United Rentals in Indianapolis is seeking candidates for a Sales Development Program. You will train at a local branch, shadowing sales and operations to learn the full equipment rental lifecycle.

You’ll join a North America onboarding program, engage in outbound campaigns, and progress toward an Outside Sales Representative role. You’ll master CRM, inventory platforms, and mobile apps; lead negotiations, rental and service discussions, and even used-equipment sales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in a customer-facing sales role preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Proficient computer and mobile skills.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must live within reasonable driving distance of assigned branch and report on-site M-F.

Responsibilities

• Begin your training at a local branch, shadowing both sales and operational roles to gain an inside-out understanding of the full equipment-rental lifecycle.
• Join North America-wide onboarding to sharpen sales technique and build an internal support network.
• Progress through outbound campaigns exposing you to construction verticals and different customer segments.
• Master sales tools including CRM, inventory management platforms, customer portal, and mobile apps.
• Lead high-level sales conversations involving pricing, multi-piece rentals, service contracts, and used equipment sales.
• Learn proven sales methodologies to deliver customer solutions and drive revenue growth.
• Participate in local team initiatives and track sales development progress with real-time metrics.
• Receive daily feedback from leadership meetings, coaching sessions, and ride-alongs; help craft account strategies and timelines.
• The average SDP spend 4-6 months before promotion to Outside Sales Representative; other duties as assigned.
