Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a Route Trainee in Pontiac, MI to start a rewarding career in field-based service and customer care. You will participate in a hands-on Service Certificate Program and gain exposure to daily operations while supporting route coverage and deliveries, advancing toward a full-time Route Service Representative role.

In this role you’ll work Monday–Friday daytime, learn to load/unload route trucks, deliver clean garments, and build strong customer relationships while upholding

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, including a physical exam.
• High school diploma, GED, or military service required.
• Strong customer service skills with ability to work independently.
• Prior experience in customer service, route sales, or delivery is a plus.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using new technologies to improve efficiency.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and remaining on your feet for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Participate in UniFirst’s Service Certificate Program to prepare for an Route Service Representative (RSR) role.
• Support daily operations by loading and unloading route trucks.
• Deliver clean garments and return soiled items.
• Provide route coverage during RSR absences.
• Operate a company walk‑in truck on designated routes.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments with energy and safety focus.
• Contribute to service department success through customer relationships.
