Job summary

NANA Management Services seeks a Security Officer to safeguard Maniilaq Village Health Clinics and nearby areas. The role involves monitoring, de-escalation, and maintaining secure facilities on a 1 week on/1 week off rotation, with potential on-call hours.

Training consists of a 10-day program in Kotzebue, AK; lodging and transportation are provided for new hires. Candidates must have a HS diploma, pass Alaska background checks, stand for 8–12 hours per shift, and be fluent in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Pass State of Alaska background check and obtain Alaska Guard License ($97).
• Team player with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
• Ability to make quick decisions with minimal supervision.
• Stand 8–12 hours per shift.
• English reading, speaking and writing required.
• Safety oriented and compliant with safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Personally monitor assigned areas by roving inside facilities, in vehicles, or other locations.
• Ensure safety and compliance in all actions for staff and visitors.
• De-escalate situations verbally to protect lives and property.
• Inspect doors, windows and areas to ensure security.
• Record and report security incidents per policy.
• Assist in events setups and clinic functions.
• Notify supervisor of safety or sanitation issues.
• Respond to emergencies or disasters to preserve life and property.
• May issue and catalog ID badges.
• May check safety systems and equipment operation.
• Other duties related to department's needs.
