Job summary

AAA The Auto Club Group in Columbia, SC is seeking a Service Vehicle Operator to respond to roadside calls, assist stranded motorists with services like jump-starts, tire changes, and lockouts, and safely tow vehicles when needed.

This role combines hands-on problem solving with customer care and safe driving; you will work independently on the road, use tablets for service updates, and complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections while upholding safety and member satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid state driver's license with minimal infractions/incidents.
• Must pass drug screen, MVR review, background check, and DOT physical.
• Strong customer service skills and professional communication.
• Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
• Comfortable using GPS, tablets, and mobile tech.
• Ability to lift/move up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read roadside service procedures and member benefits.
• Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
• Must complete AAA training programs.
• Commitment to safety and teamwork.
• If in Illinois, valid C-Non CDL may be required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to roadside requests using a tow truck or service vehicle.
• Provide emergency services: tire changes, fuel, battery, jump starts, lockouts.
• Safely tow disabled vehicles following procedures.
• Verify AAA membership and deliver exceptional service.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections.
• Maintain a clean, professional service vehicle.
• Use tablets to manage calls, update requests, and access procedures.
• Document daily activities, service calls, vehicle logs, and receipts.
• Maintain DOT certification and driving record.
• Aim for goals in member satisfaction, safety, and productivity.
• Support community and AAA events as needed.
