Job summary

Health Advocates Network, Inc. in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our correctional healthcare team on the night shift.

You will assess patients, administer meds, document EMR, collaborate with physicians, and educate patients while ensuring safety and quality care. A VA license is required; BLS and immunization records are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current, valid VA license/certification in good standing.
• Minimum of 1+ year within the last 3 years as an RN.
• Copy of PSV from licensing board if required.
• Copy of current required certifications (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunizations, TB test).

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor progress and document assessments and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses and discharge.
• Respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
• Perform wound care and IV therapy within scope of practice.

Shift Details:

• Night shift 7.00pm - 7.30am

Registered Nurse (RN) Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting safety and quality outcomes..

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestricted VA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Minimum of 1+ year within the last 3 years of recent experience as a RN
• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., . BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, ).
