Job summary

HAN Staff is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Jarratt, VA to join a correctional healthcare team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a secure facility environment.

The Day shift from 6:30am to 7:00pm offers opportunities to assess, treat, and educate patients while coordinating with physicians and care teams to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active VA RN license in good standing.
• Minimum of 1+ year RN experience within the last 3 years.
• Copy of PSV from licensing board or verification agency if required.
• Copy of required certifications (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test).

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor progress and document assessments, interventions, outcomes.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, meds, and discharge instructions.
• Respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other procedures within scope.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, infection control, and policies.
• Maintain accurate EMR records.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care with safety focus.

Registered Nurse (RN) Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting security and safety outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestricted VA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Minimum of 1+ year within the last 3 years of recent experience as a RN
• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test,)
