Job summary

Walmart seeks an Emerging Store Manager (ESM) to develop across store operations, including merchandising, people leadership and budgeting, in preparation for Store Manager opportunities. The program lasts 12–18 months with regional mobility for placement.

Participants train in customer experience, community engagement, and operational analytics while supporting store performance and leadership development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, retail management, financial management with 2 years in a management role.
• 4 years' experience in a management role in retail/operations/distribution with supervisory responsibilities.
• 2 years' general management experience, including financial accountability.
• For facilities selling firearms or ammunition, completion of CBC/eligibility requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and train across store operations to prepare for Store Manager opportunities.
• Assist in managing store financial performance and budgeting.
• Analyze sales trends and community needs for budgeting and forecasting.
• Lead staffing plans, talent pipelines, and succession planning processes.
