Job summary

The Salvation Army Oakland Main Store is seeking a dedicated Store Assistant Manager to partner with the Store Manager in daily operations, coach staff, and ensure top customer service for donors and shoppers. The role supports merchandising, cash handling, and safety compliance in a fast-paced retail environment.

Candidates should have retail management experience, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
• Able to accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
• Must hold a valid Driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Must pass background check including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, customers, and donors.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role and partner with the Store Manager in day-to-day store operations.
• Manage all daily store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
• Provide coaching, training, and development to Store Employees.
• Ensure customer/donor needs are met with strong service and community relations.
• Address personnel issues with Management, issue disciplinary actions as needed with HR input.
• Maintain ARC merchandising standards and appropriate inventory levels.
• Support BRP and ensure back room processes meet daily goals.
• Safeguard cash handling and banking per ARC policy.
• Assist Store Manager in implementing safety measures and loss prevention.
