Job summary

MICRO CENTER is seeking self-motivated Retail Computer Technicians to assist customers at the service counter and diagnose a range of computer devices in-store. You will guide customers through repair options, upsell services, and communicate repair status throughout the process.

As an associate, you will rotate between service counter duties and shop floor diagnostics, with training at $18/hour and earning potential based on productivity from $18 to $34/hour after training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; related computer service repair or tech customer service experience preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or Apple ACMT/ACiT certifications, or ability to certify within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with ability to multi-task and adjust priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person consultations and troubleshooting at the service counter for computers, accessories and other store products.
• Recommend service options including data backups, antivirus, extended warranties, and support subscriptions.
• Identify, diagnose, and document hardware failures or software problems on desktops, laptops, phones, TVs and monitors.
• Assemble custom computers sold by our BYO sales team.
• Maintain technical manuals and vendor certifications; stay current on retail products and technologies.
• Handle cash till, customer transactions, and keep the service area clean and inventory tracked.
• Provide timely updates to customers via face-to-face, phone, text, and email about repair status.
