Job summary

Rack Room Shoes is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations, drive sales, service excellence and ensure policy compliance. Lead a team and deliver an outstanding customer experience in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities include staff training, scheduling, merchandising, cash handling, and open/close procedures, with focus on loss prevention and operational efficiency across the store.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven managerial and organizational abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for customers and staff.
• Solid visual merchandising capabilities.
• Understanding of footwear, accessories and shoe care.
• Working knowledge of corporate and store policies.
• Basic math and cash handling aptitude.
• Familiarity with store operations standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in day-to-day operations and ensure policy compliance.
• Provide leadership and training to staff; take over duties when Manager absent.
• Drive sales, service levels and operational objectives.
• Oversee POS transactions, discounts, loyalty, and refunds per policy.
• Manage inventory, pricing, and physical inventory processes.
• Lead merchandising, floor presentation and promotional setup.
• Monitor payroll scheduling and attendance within budget.
• Coach staff through training tools and standards reinforcement.
• Support loss prevention and protect store assets.
• Develop understanding of all daily store operations.
