Job summary

Rack Room Shoes is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations, provide leadership, and train staff. In the Store Manager’s absence, you will assume full responsibility for all store activities, striving to meet sales, service and operational goals with a strong emphasis on safety and customer experience.

You will supervise team performance, enforce policies, manage inventory, and lead visual merchandising to maintain store standards.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven managerial and organizational abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for customer and staff interactions.
• Strong visual merchandising ability and knowledge of store presentation.
• Knowledge of footwear, accessories and shoe care is preferred.
• Basic math skills for POS and inventory functions.
• Understanding of corporate and store operations policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of employees and customers.
• Deliver excellent customer shopping experience and train staff.
• Oversee POS transactions, discounts, refunds and loyalty procedures.
• Control inventory, pricing and markdowns; manage receiving and shipping.
• Direct merchandising, housekeeping, promotions and signage on the sales floor.
• Oversee scheduling, payroll and attendance within policy.
• Develop staff through training and adherence to standards.
• Support loss prevention and protect company assets.
• Seek continuous improvement of day-to-day operations.
