Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement across the span of care, mentor Leads and Team Leaders, and ensure alignment with Meijer’s culture. The role focuses on coaching, performance management, succession planning, and delivering on area operations and financial goals.

You will oversee staffing, onboarding, safety, and merchandising strategies, partner with store leadership to optimize scheduling and productivity, and support a diverse, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training, and development, and coaching and feedback to be successful in all they do.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Involvement in candid discussions with team members to ensure Meijer standards are upheld and growth is possible.
• Accountability for area operations and financial results by overseeing the execution of corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity and managing budget line items in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance throughout the store and manages overall condition; follows all store procedures.
• Ensures Leades and Leads provide guidance and assign daily work and training needs.
