Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to oversee team engagement and development across the span of care. You will drive recognition, coaching, and performance management while guiding Leads and Team Leaders.

You will be accountable for area operations and financials, including safety, scheduling, and forecasting staffing needs. You will work to identify process improvements, uphold Meijer culture, and lead a diversified talent pipeline for store leadership roles, ensuring high standards of customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to drive decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a safety-focused organization.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking in the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing strategy for store leadership roles.
• Engages in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing P&L items.
• Drives safety and compliance, and routines store condition management.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads in assigning daily work and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
