Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and performance across team members within a span of care. You will lead coaching, recognition, and development, while owning area operations and financial results including budgeting and forecasting staffing needs.

You will identify talent, ensure onboarding and training, and partner with Leads to maintain safety, standards, and customer focus. This role emphasizes inclusive leadership and process improvements to strengthen Meijer’s culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices safety at all times.
• Proactive/creative thinking applied to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and grow market share.
• Strong business acumen.
• Innovative attitude to set industry standards for Meijer.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all team members and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversees area operations and budgeted P&L to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store condition.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders in daily work and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
