Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and develop talents across the span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, coaching teams, supervising budgetary performance, and ensuring safety and process improvements to maximize sales and productivity.

The role emphasizes talent identification, succession planning, and implementing strategic initiatives while maintaining Meijer’s culture and customer focus in a large retail environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with team members.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Commitment to fostering a safe working environment and standards.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching for success.
• Identify talent and discuss career paths to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Conduct candid conversations to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversee area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity, managing budget line items in the P&L.
• Drive safety and compliance, manage store condition and adhere to procedures.
• Guide and assign daily work for Team Leaders and Leaders, address training needs.
