Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and lead Leads and Team Leaders across a span of care. The role will oversee area operations, budgeting, and performance improvements while fostering Meijer’s culture of safety and inclusive leadership.

Responsibilities include onboarding, talent development, coaching, and alignment with corporate plans to maximize sales and ensure a diversified talent pipeline for both staff and leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience. Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued and supported.

Responsibilities

• Engage with area team to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching are effective.
• Identify talent and engage in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Communicate Meijer standards and support growth within the organization.
• Accountable for area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drive safety and compliance and manage store condition and adherence to procedures.
• Lead and assign daily tasks for team members and support training needs.
