Job summary

IHOP is seeking a General Manager to direct the operation of an assigned unit in Hammond, Indiana. The role focuses on leading daily restaurant operations, overseeing staff performance, and ensuring guest satisfaction in alignment with SOPs and company objectives.

The GM will drive training programs, manage finances and marketing objectives, and ensure food safety and regulatory compliance while maintaining strong guest relations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to speak and read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; communicate effectively with groups of guests.
• A valid Driver’s License will be necessary to drive a car on Company business.
• Certification through assigned IHOP training courses.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional functional working relationships with IHOP employees and guests.
• Implement the Craft Training program for all restaurant hourly employees to improve unit operations and the guest experience.
• Execute annual financial, local restaurants marketing, guest service, and human resource objectives, strategies and tactics for assigned unit as defined by SOP and current operations plan.
• Manage the restaurant floor and focus on regular contact with guests; address complaints professionally and promptly.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations applicable to the unit.
• Recruit, train and retain employees; manage turnover; conduct coaching and administer wage plans; ensure performance appraisals and merit increases are given as scheduled.
• Ensure food compliance with SOP regarding specifications, recipes, plating, and garnishes; serve at proper temperatures and times.
• Maintain inventory and supplies; order food timely and minimize out-of-stock items.
• Oversee safety, security, and housekeeping protocols; enforce policies and maintain equipment and premises.
