Job summary

BlueStar Resort & Golf is seeking a Bartender to prepare and serve beverages and food to guests at the bar, restaurant, or patio, reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager.

Requires bartending experience, strong hospitality skills, and the ability to manage cash, balance the register, and maintain a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. Evening and weekend availability is required; full-time benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• One year experience bartending, in a resort facility preferred.
• Must meet the state and federal minimum age requirement for serving alcohol.
• Current Food Handlers Card and TIPS Certification (Training for Intervention Procedures).
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; must be able to calculate discounts, and percentages
• Ability to contribute to a productive and friendly work environment by maintaining a positive attitude.
• Ability to speak effectively and present information to another person and in small group situations with guests and team members.
• Ability to provide direction to coworkers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memorandums.
• Must be able to pay attention to details and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
• This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming atmosphere and provide excellent hospitality by knowing the resort facility and dining area.
• Take a proactive approach to ensure a consistent set of superior standards of food service and quality.
• Greet and serve guests in an energetic and friendly fashion; respond to guest questions and preferences.
• Check identification to assure customers are of legal drinking age.
• Balance cash register and handle cash/card transactions accurately.
• Maintain a clean bar area and restock supplies for banquets and functions.
• Oversee and assist in all Food & Beverage functions (e.g., corporate events, weddings).
• Attend culinary exhibitions and stay current with industry developments.
