Job summary

M&T Bank in Hampstead, MD is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to help customers identify permanent FHA/VA and conventional loan options that fit their financial goals. You will interview applicants, analyze income, assets, debts and credit data to determine loan eligibility and guide clients through the approval process.

Responsibilities include promoting bank mortgage products, building client relationships, and ensuring compliance with origination procedures and SAFE Act requirements while

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 2 years sales experience.
• OR combined minimum of 4 years higher education and/or relevant work experience, including 2 years sales.
• Thorough knowledge of FHA/VA regulations, conventional loan requirements and real estate law.
• Technical Skills: PC literacy and software used by Residential Mortgage Department.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to collect income, assets, debts and credit data.
• Assess applicant’s credit worthiness and issue pre-qualification statements.
• Advise on mortgage products and terms meeting customer needs.
• Cultivate new mortgage business and promote bank mortgage products.
• Travel to customer homes or offices as needed.
• Ensure compliance with origination procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Represent the bank in the community and conduct seminars to promote business.
