Stride, Inc. is hiring for a remote Payroll Specialist role focused on end-to-end payroll processing using Workday across multiple states. The position requires a solid background in payroll and experience with tax withholdings and W-2 processing.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED and at least five years of payroll experience, including three years in Workday. This is a virtual role open to residents in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with competitive hourly compensation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5) years of payroll experience including multi-state payroll.
• Three (3) years of Workday payroll experience or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Ability to clear required background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process end-to-end payroll biweekly for exempt/non-exempt employees using Workday and OSV.
• Reconcile payroll from period to period.
• Calculate prorated wages and deductions for new hires, terminations, and status changes.
• Ensure accurate tax withholdings and reciprocity rules.
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with SOX.
• Troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues with minimal supervision.
• Respond to employee inquiries via ticketing system within SLA (24–48 hours).
• Stay current on payroll and benefits legislation.
• Independently manage tax notices with OSV and state/local registrations.
• Assist with year-end and W-2 processing as needed.
