Job summary

Stride, Inc. is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll in Workday for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple states. This is a virtual role open to residents of all 50 states, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll processing.

You will reconcile periods, handle tax withholdings, W-2 issues, and respond to employee inquiries via a ticketing system, while maintaining SOX controls and SLA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus 5 years of payroll experience.
• 3 years of Workday payroll experience required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Ability to clear required background check.
• Familiarity with payroll processes and best practices.
• Experience with ticketing systems (Freshservice, Zendesk).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process biweekly multi-state payroll using Workday and OSV.
• Reconcile payroll period to period.
• Calculate prorated wages and deductions for new hires/terminations.
• Ensure accurate tax withholdings and reciprocity rules.
• Maintain Workday retros and processing.
• Maintain payroll records in SOX compliance.
• Resolve payroll issues including tax adjustments.
• Respond to employee inquiries via ticketing system within SLA 24–48 hrs.
• Stay current on payroll legislation; handle tax notices with OSV.
• Assist with year-end and W-2 tasks as needed.
