Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Transmission to own the preliminary transmission line design and engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects. This role is fully remote with location discussions during interviews.

Responsibilities include leading the 10% design, coordinating with estimators and BD, and ensuring compliance with NESC/IEEE and client requirements while traveling up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or related engineering from an accredited institution.
• PE licensure is a nice-to-have, not a must.
• Minimum of 3+ years in transmission line design or related power engineering.
• Proficiency in transmission line design software listed above.
• Strong understanding of design principles, clearances, and industry standards (NESC, IEEE).
• Ability to travel up to 10% and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary transmission line and gen-tie design approach for pursuits and projects.
• Review client documents, agreements, and standards to identify requirements and risks.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering consultants, survey, environmental, land, and substation teams.
• Lead development of the 10% transmission line design, routing, sizing, and refinements.
• Ensure estimates are technically complete and aligned with schedule and scope.
• Engage with clients during routine meetings to review exhibits and requirements.
