Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Transmission to own the preliminary transmission line design for utility-scale solar, BESS, and interconnection projects.

The role covers design kickoff through preconstruction handoff, with a focus on routing, conductor sizing, and risk management in a fully remote setting. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in transmission line design, strong software proficiency, and knowledge of standards (NESC, IEEE).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or related engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in transmission line design or engineering, utility-scale renewable energy, gen-tie, or related power engineering.
• Proficiency in transmission line design software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, or similar).
• Strong understanding of design principles, routing, conductor/shield wire selection, sag-tension, clearances and foundations.

Responsibilities

• Lead preliminary transmission line design and technical ownership for 10% design deliverables.
• Coordinate with estimating, scheduling, and BD to align scope with project stage gates.
• Engage with clients and project teams to review exhibits, risks, and requirements outside SOLV standards.
• Prepare and coordinate proposals with EORs and engineering subcontractors.
• Handoff design scope and risks to Preconstruction Engineering for execution readiness.
• Review deliverables for compliance with NESC, IEEE, and vendor requirements.
