Job summary

Nationwide is hiring for a Territory Manager, Specialty Care Business Development. This remote role focuses on Commercial Lines Middle Market within Human Services and Nonprofit sectors, managing select agencies, underwriting, and driving growth across an Eastern Time Zone footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Seven years of underwriting and sales experience in commercial business preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing and coverage for middle market business.
• Understanding of company sales and underwriting standards and practices.
• Ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships.
• Strong decision-making in priority-conflict scenarios, with customer service and compliance.
• Overtime eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).
• Multi-line commercial insurance underwriting experience including underwriting authority.
• Human Services and Nonprofit industry experience.
• Strong business development skills with production and agency management focus.
• Specialty experience in Casualty lines (General Liability, Professional Liability, Abuse & Molestation).

Responsibilities

• Market, manage and underwrite commercial business with select agencies or brokers to meet financial goals.
• Lead agencies by creating sales strategies and processes to drive new sales and retention.
• Research risk environment to win accounts and prepare underwriting reports.
• Analyze underwriting performance and identify territory issues with corrective plans.
• Drive production, profitability and service objectives.
• Quote, price and underwrite new and renewal policies, especially for complex accounts.
• Monitor risk selection and pricing decisions for agency plants and accounts.
• Coordinate agency visits and ensure quality, timely customer service and workflow efficiency.
• Develop robust agency business plans with clear actions and checkpoints.
• Communicate product changes and market intelligence to agencies and leaders.
